Positran Manufacturing
Positran Manufacturing, Inc. is headquartered in a 45,000 square foot state-of–the-art manufacturing facility located in southeastern Pennsylvania. We are a full-service electronic contract manufacturing firm specializing in printed circuit board assembly, cable and harness assembly, electro-mechanical assembly, box build assembly and full product assembly. In addition, we also offer engineering services, conformal coating and warehousing services. We also represent several printed circuit board manufacturers both domestic and overseas. We have implemented a stringent quality control system and utilize the much desired 3D AOI Vision inspection system and functional and in-circuit testing capabilities.
Our staff has over 150 years of combined experience in providing a complete range of manufacturing services to the military, medical, industrial, safety, transportation and telecommunications industries as well as the consumer market.

Our Story
Positran Manufacturing, Inc. evolved from a business that started out in the 1970’s as the manufacturing arm for Scan Data which manufactured products for the OCR scanning industry. In the early 1980’s, Positran, Inc. was spun off and manufactured full product assemblies for the POS fast food industry. During this time we engineered and manufactured POS products that were installed in Hardee’s, Wendy’s, Burger King, McDonald’s, Jack in the Box and Wimpy’s to name a few. In 1990, the manufacturing division started providing contract manufacturing services and hence Positran Manufacturing, Inc. was established in 1995 as a stand alone full service electronic contract manufacturing firm. We continue to expand in our 45,000 square foot facility while investing in our people and the latest manufacturing technology.

Our Process
PCB Manufacturing
We source our PCBs from several high quality factories that have been partnered with us for over 20 years. Our PCB capabilities include PCBs up to 40 layers and material such as FR4, Roger, High TG, Aluminum, Rigid-Flex and more.
Component Sourcing
Our professional staff of buyers procures the exact material specified on your AVL listing. This material is only purchased from approved distribution sources or directly from the manufacturer.
Stencil Production
The SMT stencil is laser cut from the highest quality of stainless steel in order to optimize paste deposit repeatability and paste release.
Solder Paste Application
The solder paste is applied to the PCB on one of our state of the art Europlacer 710 AVI screen printers. These printers feature auto paste dispensing, laser board clamping, vision alignment and auto cleaning of stencil upon each application.
Pick and Place
All SMT components are placed by one of our pick and place machines which includes the high speed Europlacer IINEO+ system. This system features a rotary turret head with 12 nozzles, electrical tester, visual inspection of fine pitch components, internal matrix trays, and the capacity for hundreds of feeders.
Reflow Soldering
Once the components are placed, they are placed into one our reflow ovens. This critical process has each zone monitored to the proper temperature guaranteed to produce a properly reflowed assembly. We also utilized the ECD mole to provide thermal profiling of each assembly.
Inspection and Quality Control
The next step in the manufacturing process is to inspect the assembly in our Mirtec 3D AOI vision inspection system. This system verifies that the correct component is installed. It also will detect when components that are reversed or skewed along with using multi-stage lighting to identify solder defects such as colder solder, lack of solder, excess solder, solder shorts, tombstoning and surfboarding (lifted leads). This system provides confidence that the PCB assembly is assembled without any defects.
Testing and Functional Verification
If applicable, the assembly will be tested by our technicians utilizing a functional or in-circuit test to verify the assembly performs as expected.
Packaging and Shipping
Each assembly is package in anti-static material and labeled with the part number and revision. It is then picked up by one of our trusted shipping partners such as UPS, Fed-Ex or an LTL carrier.
